Link Summaries

This is not an article but a number of people who identify with the label 'Gamer".
Their experiences (sexual) vary as they do between us non-gamers, interestingly some of the methods of game play have carried into reality.
lastelement0 mentioned if he were playing video games, it "would cause (his) gf to go that extra mile to get my attention." So for lastelement0 a positive effect was caused.

Time Magazine's little sibling Time Ideas has this article declaring that there is no link here. Apparently youth violence dropped by some 40% to its lowest ever in 2011.

The link between gaming and aggression is questioned in this article, based on a study made in Sweden.
It explains to be a successful gamer you need cooperation skills, excellent timing and reflexes.
There is an explanation of transfer, where "...knowledge gained in a certain situation can be used in an entirely different context", in a nutshell saying an irresponsible loner with a tendency towards aggression is unlikely to be a gamer. Or at least, an efficient gamer.
Pros and Cons to the Violence in video games contributes to youth violence are discussed in great detail here. It seems that the authors of Video Games ProCon.org are intent on sitting on the fence, letting the readers decide on their own. Good stuff really considering the amount of American media who are happy to make violent games the scapegoat of youth violence.

A Christian's View of World of Warcraft was retitled from the singular "A Christian View..." when the author realized they were only single-personalitied and not all Christians.
The article explains why they will not be allowing their sons to participate in the game, using at first, a number of 'red flags' to point out the evils:
RED FLAG #1 Says you get to choose from ten races and nine classes (what variation!).
RED FLAG #2 Notes that Clinical Psychologist Dr. Maressa Orzack believes 40% of people who play the game are addicted (It must be pretty darn good then!).
RED FLAG #3 Explains the nature of the quests available, where one travels through terrains and fighting different kinds of monsters (Instant appeal for role playing gamers!).
RED FLAG #4 States "Many of the quests involve violence."
I do not know about you reader, but I am SOLD on the game from about this part of the piece.
The article really kicks of with the introduction: "God says “Abstain from all appearances of evil. I didn’t write it God did." Which is a bit (completely) incorrect. Thessalonians 1 was written by some blokes names Timothy, Paul and *Silvanus.

*I've an idea for my first character name when I sign into the game!

Biblical verses regarding gaming
This site has 23 verses FROM THE BIBLE about video games.
Being called openbible dot info is rather closed minded.
My favourite quote in the list is from Ephesians 5:11: "Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them." Guess I am on the right track with this blog then.

Computer games inhabited by demons
Pokemon are all "oriental demons". A man describes why various games are demonic. What to watch out for and why this is the case. The interviewer from the show CLUB36 is completely biased.
It is likely this is an evangelical Public Broadcast Station.
With their reasoning, an oriental (Japanese) show with a religious themed title- Neon Genesis Evangelion, would also be sacrilege (Battle robots controlled by children battle Angels who are hell bent on destroying the Earth).

  1. interesting takes on the links .. Im a christian and i guess i consider myself a gammer as well. I play a lot of sports games i.e Madden, NBA2K, Ultimate figther and also games like MW3 and COD. Personally i dont think gaming is evil, but you certainly are putting up good links/summeries arguing from both sides of the spectrum. interested in reading more ..

You are the reason why the arguments from practicing Christians are invalid.
